Solar radiation reflective pavement is the pavement on which the surface is coated with solar radiation reflective paint. It constrains the rise of road surface temperature by reflecting near infrared rays of the sunshine which are also called heat-rays. Road surface temperature rises up to about 60℃ on conventional asphalt pavement in summer in Japan. Solar radiation reflective pavement constrains the rise of road surface temperature by about 10℃ compared with conventional asphalt pavement, and is effective to mitigate urban heat island.
