Tokyo is the most populous megacity and forms the largest capital region in the world along with neighboring cities of Kawasaki and Yokohama.
The efficient movement of people and transport of goods are the essential functions of the capital region, and the key element is the development of a transportation network consisting of roads linking railways stations, airports and seaports with the center of the city.
The most modern pavement technologies have been applied to these roads to ensure safe driving.
Tokyo is the center of the capital region, and also a promenade where people will mingle. So that there is a growing need for pavement that contributes to the urban environment and landscape as part of city planning.
The Japan Road Contractors Association (JRCA) wishes to provide visitors from all over the world with safe and pleasant urban space through pavement
technologies which Japan can proudly present."We will be pleased if the proposal of this manual "O･MO･TE･NA･SHI” provided by pavement technologies"" can be useful in the building of "Tokyo
Megacity and Promenade".
